Jordan was without a doubt one of the most adventurous and most important trips of our lives. We landed in Amman and immediately headed toward the Wadi Rum desert, where we switched to our host’s off-road vehicle and dove straight into the endless sand. We took part in a traditional Bedouin tea ceremony, stared at the millions of stars in the night sky, and enjoyed the deep silence of the desert and that peaceful feeling of being far away from everything. At the same time, there was a quiet sense of anxiety with us throughout the stay. We knew that without our host’s desert experience and vehicle, we wouldn’t be able to move even a single step on our own. We also visited Petra, which did not disappoint at all. It is exactly as monumental and breathtaking as it looks in the pictures. On the third day, we traveled to the city of Aqaba. As a special economic zone, it has a very different atmosphere where multiple cultures meet and a more modern, urban vibe takes over. We spent about an hour simply sitting by the water, watching the locals go about their day. On our last evening, we rode camels at sunset, and that’s when I asked Anita the hardest and easiest question of my life at the same time. She said yes.
