Ocean & Tulkun (Suite) | Avatar: The Way of Water (OST) by Simon Franglen

My favourite part of the movie were definitely the underwater sequences and the whole discovery of the deep bond the Metkayina tribe shares with the whale-like creatures called Tulkun, which play a central part in the movie. On one hand, James Cameron mastered the work with the CGI and created the most stunning underwater scenes ever made, and on the other hand Simon Franglen gave his contribution with his enchanting music. The theme that Franglen composed for the ocean and the Tulkun is sublime, gentle and mighty at the same time, and it manages single-handedly to convey the beauty of the ocean. There are many ways Simon Franglen achieved this goal: he involved female vocalists to produce a mermaid-like sound to convey a sense of wonder, and secondly he added an iridescent and shimmering texture in the score to embody the magic of the water. Both these elements really pays off in the final result, and I'm really amazed by the musical wonder that Franglen has managed to create.
