In this video we visit Cold Aston, a lovely little village less than 3 miles from Bourton On The Water one of the most popular places to visit in all the Cotswolds. This stunning village has at its heart a village green with an enormous oak tree several hundreds of years old and a 17th century grade 2 listed pub The Plough said to have its own resident ghost 'Old Harry'. The Norman church is St Andrews and its thought there was some kind of place of worship here dating back to the Saxon era when a piece of a Saxon cross shaft was discovered during a major restoration in 1876. The village actually has another name 'Aston Blanc' and between 716 and 743 AD it was called 'Eastunae' and then 'Estone' in the Doomsday Book of 1086. If you're seeking a quintessential Cotswolds village without the crowds, Cold Aston is the perfect destination.
