Rosthwaite Fell ( Bessyboot) Lake District. 19th April 2023

A walk to the Wainwright summit of Rosthwaite Fell (Bessyboot) 612m The walks starts just outside the village of Stonethwaite in Borrowdale in the Lake District. We follow the track from Stonethwaite to the nearby campsite where we head through a gate opposite the campsite to follow the path which runs beside Big Stanger Gill. This path is quite steep but levels out as you get higher. The path heads out of the woods and on to the open fellside where the views open up. We then follow the grassy path to the summit of Bessyboot (612m) From the summit of Bessyboot we drop down to the small tarn ( Tarn at Leaves) to pick up the descent path. There is great views on the descent route back to Stonethwaite. Distance is around 3.5 miles.
