In this episode of Emerge stories Eli Harrell interview’s Arnold Balais is a Paralympic athlete, vocational coordinator, orthotic and prosthetic technician, and team captain of the Philippine Accessible Disability Service (PADS) Dragon Boat Team. He overcame the amputation of his right leg at 14 years old caused by chronic osteomyelitis and went on to excel in various sports, including weightlifting, swimming, mountain climbing, and boat racing. Balais was honored with several awards and recognitions for his achievements, including being the first amputee to scale Mount Apo. He is also a television commercial actor, a nationally recognized product ambassador, inspirational and motivational speaker, and works at Cebu Doctors University as a Laboratory Instructor for Physical and Occupational therapy students, a senior Prosthetic technician, and a patient advocate.
