Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) #35 is a G5s Steam Locomotive built in 1928. For decades this locomotive traveled across New York City and Long Island, now you have the chance to see this forgotten locomotive once again. Since the 1990s, the caretakers of Locomotive #35 have been a small group of passionate volunteers making sure she's been saved from Scrap, and keeping her home in Long Island. We are not associated and have not received help from the MTA Long Island Rail Road, we rely on private donations and local funding from the town of Oyster Bay.
