Experience a bite-size visit to New York’s world famous Metropolitan Museum for Black History Month 2026, and see highlights from the “John Wilson: Witnessing Humanity” exhibition. Wilson was one of the Black American artists who were active when Jim Crow laws were still a reality in much of America, and continued working until his death in 2015. The exhibition featured more than 100 of Wilson’s works in one place for the first time. From monumental sculptures to children’s book illustrations, the exhibition made me feel a connection to the past, at a time when we’re facing the challenges of an increasingly fractured America. Wilson’s pieces examine racism, labor issues, and the Black family as a refuge. This video shares some of my favorite pieces in the Wilson Exhibition, and the reactions of some other visitors. #blackhistorymonth2026 #blackart #blackexcellence
