Welcome to the second Dungeon Synth Sunday of July. As the sun begins to intensify in the wake of the longest days, it feels fitting to offer a balm of cooling contrast as my first of three features in today’s session. It is my great pleasure to present a specially compiled edition of the first two demos from Spiral Aurora – the new project of winter synth from the Indonesian behind the raw forest melancholy of Wailing Forest and bucolic comfy ambience of Silent Garden. Chilled melodies evoke a sparse frigid wasteland with a conviction that seems uncanny for an artist in the tropics, and yet a low winter sun glowers with an icy reverence through these sub-zero pieces of lo-fi, illuminating the frosted air with muted chill and gently cooled descending vapors. Put this on and be at peace among the snow covered pines.
