Facing Your Jericho Text: Joshua 6:1–5 (KJV) “Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in. And the Lord said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valor. And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days. And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets. And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.” 1. Know Your Jericho Your Jericho is the obstacle standing between you and God’s promise. It’s right in front of you. Pro (in front of) blem (blemish) — your problem stands right before your breakthrough. It’s insurmountable. You can’t climb it, buy it, charm it, or outthink it—only God can bring it down. It’s locked up. Jericho’s walls weren’t just tall; they were sealed tight. Sometimes God allows obstacles to look impossible so that only He can get the glory. 2. Go to Your Jericho Faith doesn’t avoid the fight—it walks straight toward it. Take a good look at it. Walk around it. Face it from every angle. Don’t ignore it—name it, pray about it, and bring it before God. Follow the instructions you’ve been given. Joshua followed God’s plan even when it didn’t make sense. Sometimes obedience is louder than understanding. 3. Blow at Your Jericho When it’s time to act, faith speaks. Shout God’s Word at it. Declare His promises out loud. The Word of God is your trumpet—use it. Do it together. Israel marched in unity. There’s power when the people of God move and speak in one voice. 4. Overthrow Your Jericho Joshua 6:10, 15–16, 20 (KJV) “And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout… until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout… And it came to pass at the seventh time… Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the Lord hath given you the city. So the people shouted… and the wall fell down flat…” Victory doesn’t come from human might—it comes from divine timing and obedience. So What? Run toward the roar of your problem. Don’t shrink back. The very thing that intimidates you might be the key to your next victory. Now What? Follow your leader. Ask for God’s direction before you act. Then move in faith until the walls fall.
