Histology of the liver

The liver arranges its hepatocytes in rows or plates and flows blood from the hepatic artery and hepatic portal vein past them and into central veins. Tiny bile canaliculi take bile from hepatocytes and channels it in the opposite direction towards the bile ducts. To see how all this is laid out at a cellular level we need to look through the microscope, where we will be able to see heptic lobules, portal lobules and hepatic acini with just a little imagination.
