Set back in a massive field along the coast of Virginia sits this large imposing old plantation house. Built sometime in the mid 19th century most likely antebellum from what I could find out. The original family farmed cotton, timber and other crops owning a large amount of acres. The house remained in the same family its entire life until sometime in the 1990’s the house was cleared and vacated for a final time. Like some itinerant traveling tent show the house was seemingly packed up over night, deserted and forgotten. Now just home to a family of bats living in the stairwell and whatever creatures dwell in the darker hours of the evenings. The asphalt shingle roof already beginning to fail from years of neglect, the siding weathered from over a century of coastal storms blown in the temporal winds of yesteryear. The large second story porch gable starting to give way. As some uncertain future sets over the home like a fog, like the onset of some cruel glaucoma slowly fading out the world from this once loving house. Thanks for watching Also shown is Bacons Castle built in 1665, the oldest brick house in North America. You can pay a small fee( which goes back into helping the house) to tour it if ever in Virginia and are interested in architecture and history. I would highly recommend it
