http://www.SleepMD4U.com - In this video session, Dr. Popper will discuss home sleep testing for Obstructive Sleep Apnea; when it is appropriate, and how to proceed correctly for a more accurate diagnosis. Home sleep testing has recently been approved by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine for patients who will not or cannot participate in a clinical sleep study, or whose health insurance will not cover a sleep center study. Home sleep testing is most appropriately used for patients who have a high probability of suffering from obstructive sleep apnea but do NOT suffer from other co-morbid medical conditions such as congestive heart failure, previous heart attack, diabetes, or chronic lung disease, among others. Home sleep testing is not appropriate for everyone, and it's important that your test results be interpreted by a board certified physician at an accredited sleep center to be sure that your diagnosis is not the outcome of a false positive or a false negative result. Dr. Ronald A. Popper is a Board Certified sleep specialist and the Medical Director of the Southern California Pulmonary and Sleep Disorders Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, California, a four bed, state of the art, fully accredited sleep disorders center located at 2230 Lynn Road, Suite 101 in Thousand Oaks. Southern California Pulmonary also serves the communities of Westlake Village, Malibu, Agoura, Camarillo, Newbury Park, and Simi Valley, as well as surrounding areas.
