Plenary Dialogue: Funders of Health Innovation

On May 15-16, UBC Health hosted Bridging Research and Action, a two-day event focused on catalyzing collaboration and bringing knowledge into action across British Columbia. This plenary session, 'Funders of Health Innovation' featured Angela Chapman from VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation, Melina Moran from KGH Foundation, Dr. Deanne Taylor from Interior Health, Mike Conroy from Vancouver Foundation, Dr. Jennifer Zelmer from Healthcare Excellence Canada, and Dr. Danielle Lavalee from Michael Smith Health Research BC. This session discussed insights into how panelists approach funding decisions, what makes a proposal compelling, and how they’re working to support more inclusive, equity-driven innovation. The Bridging event brought together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, patient and community partners, and other interest holders from across sectors, with in-person sessions at both UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan campuses, and virtual participation from across BC and beyond.
