Police revealed that the liquor was meant to lure voters during municipal elections. Similar illegal distribution was also carried out during previous panchayat elections. Acting on a tip-off, the STF and Uppal police seized 84 non-duty-paid liquor bottles worth ₹2.5 lakh, along with a car and mobile phones. Three accused have been arrested, and a case has also been registered against a Delhi-based liquor distributor.
