I pieced together my own full hydraulic steering system for my 700cc 4 wheel drive golf cart build using nothing but used and new boat parts. By doing this I saved a lot of money compared to buying a full hydro kit from one of the offroad manufacturers. I also did not need to use a pump with this boat helm. The gearing in the Helm makes it easy to turn the wheel. Another feature I like is that there is a valve inside the helm that only allows fluid to flow when the steering wheel is being manually turned. What this means is that you will not get any feedback in your steering wheel from the trail that you are riding. In theory, you could let go of your steering wheel and it should stay in a straight line no matter what.
