Industrial work is all about counting widgets, calculating yield, and analyzing return on investment. If you're doing this, you're not learning anything. It's neither very human, nor very helpful. Seth explains that the alternative is to say, "I'm here to make a change happen, I'm here to help people. I'm going to do this thing, even if it's not going to work." Obsess about the process, not the outcome. This maximizes the chances that your work is going to land. Keep your eye on what you're doing and do it without regard for whether you're going to "win."
