This is the fourth of four videos about the use of a three-dimensional geological model of the Paleozoic bedrock of southern Ontario with the Leapfrog viewer. This video provides an in-depth look at Shapes, including the different viewing options for the many layers and features which comprise the 3D model (shape categories, shape faces) as well as how to navigate these viewing options efficiently (selecting multiple faces simultaneously). This video also demonstrates the use of the Measure tool, in relation to the thickness of the geologic layers which make up the model. The series has been created by Dr. John Johnston and Henry Visneskie from the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences (https://uwaterloo.ca/earth-environmen...) at the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Each video in this series describes different features and functionalities of the Leapfrog Viewer (version 5.0), intended to support University of Waterloo students in Earth 235, Stratigraphic Approaches to understanding Earth History. The model demonstrated in these videos can be accessed by clicking Download the publication here: https://geoscan.nrcan.gc.ca/starweb/g... Special thanks to Dr. Bob Lemieux and the Dean of Science Undergraduate Teaching Initiative (https://uwaterloo.ca/science/teaching...) at the University of Waterloo for providing funding in the project titled Using Emerging Technologies to enhance field, experiential and active based learning in Earth and Environmental Sciences. A special thank you as well to the many people that provided professional support and expertise from the University of Waterloo’s VR/AR Community of Practice, Centre for Extended Learning, Centre for Teaching Excellence and Library. Also to the Oil, Gas, and Salt Resource Library, Ontario Geological Survey and Geological Survey of Canada. #LeapfrogViewer #OntarioGeology #3Dmodel
