Mount Lokon Volcano near Manado, North Sulawesi, Indonesia looked much easier than I thought! It's a 3-4 hour hike to the very top & back down. If you aren't up for the big hike it's well worth doing the 45 minute trek up to the crater. The crater is along the same trail & I believe that's what most people prefer to hike. In this video, I take you with me as I hike up toward to the peak of Mount Lokon—pushing through tall grass, steep terrain, and honestly questioning my decision more than once. This hike really beat me. It was way harder than I expected, both physically and mentally. The first part was easy, but the last 45 minutes before the peak is where the volcano will challenge you! Along the way, I stop to take in the raw power of the crater and the dramatic volcanic landscape surrounding it. And in the end, the view overlooking Manado and Bunaken Island made every exhausting step worth it.
