The Kestrels are certainly fun to watch as they all scramble for a feeding and steal from one another. Junior gets the prey several times and tries his best to swallow it fast but he loses it to another sibling. He will steal it back again as the siblings scurry back & forth with Mom in the nest box watching. Tug-O-Bird. Some great wingercising by one of the babies. Thank you for watching! Video captured & edited by Lady Hawk Four downy American Kestrel nestlings are tucked into a gravel-bottomed nest on private property near Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin. The nest box is located on the side of a traditional limestone-footed barn, overlooking a rolling grassland that slopes away into folded hills and forests. Cornell Lab & Raptor Resource Project have teamed up to provide this new live cam.The kestrel is North America’s littlest falcon & packs a predator’s fierce intensity into its small body. It's number one of the most colorful raptors - the male’s slate-blue head and wings contrast elegantly w/rusty-red back & tail. The female has the same warm reddish on her wings, back, & tail. Egg laying dates for this nest were on May 8-15-17-19-21; hatching dates for the four nestlings were June 14-16-16-18. The 5th egg was non viable.
