Queensland by Rail | Part 8 - Rail Museum + XPT to Sydney

In this episode I pay a visit to the Ipswich North Workshops Rail Museum. After seeing a variety of trains in the museum, it was time to ride a real train again. This time I was leaving Queensland and heading to Sydney. My train was of course an XPT: another train that might not be around in 5 years time. The difference in travelling by train in Queensland compared to New South Wales was very apparent: no designated intermediate points where passengers can stretch their legs. We were lucky enough to stop briefly at Dungog as we were running ahead of schedule, but this is not common practice. This combined with less comfort than I had become used to in QLD meant that it was the least enjoyable of all my trains in Queensland. However, that does not mean it was all bad, as I enjoyed the scenery as always and appreciated the unexpected photo-stop. There will be one more episode in the series documenting a mini-trip I did in NSW as well as the XPT from Sydney back to Melbourne.
