Just exploring recipes, keeping the ones worth returning to, and inviting you along for the wander. 🥯 Classic Bagel Recipe below 🍳 Part of our Bread & Breakfast series If you enjoy cozy baking, slow living, and food made with intention, you’re in the right place. 🥯 CLASSIC BAGEL RECIPE Ingredients 1½ cups warm water (about 110°F) 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet) 1 tbsp sugar 1 tbsp salt 3–3½ cups bread flour 1 tbsp oil (for bowl) For boiling: Large pot of water 1–2 tbsp sugar (or honey) 1 tsp baking soda Instructions Bloom the yeast Make the dough Add remaining sugar, salt, and 3 cups flour. Mix until a shaggy dough forms, Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1½ hours until doubled. Shape Rest 15–20 minutes. Boil bagels 30 seconds per side, then remove and drain. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 18–22 minutes until golden brown.
