South Africa Now | 23 February 2026 Here’s your latest update on what’s happening across South Africa right now. We start in KwaZulu-Natal where two trucks collided at the M7 and N2 interchange. In Tembisa, protests have led to multiple road closures, causing major disruptions. In Stellenbosch, a lightning strike hit the Plesier de Merle estate during heavy weather. There’s more breaking news as a supermarket caught fire in Port Elizabeth, along with reports of a car crash in the Western Cape. Rain continues in parts of the country including Port Elizabeth, Lutzville, and Upington. On the travel side, we capture someone boarding an Airlink flight in Kimberley, a FlySafair aircraft landing in George, and views from Engen 1 Stop in Vryheid. We also pass through Piet Retief, Ballito Village, and Mossel Bay. If you’re looking for calmer moments, enjoy beach views from Jeffrey’s Bay, Ballito Beach, and Kleinmond, plus scenic drives along Chapman’s Peak. We also stop at De Loft Guest House in Piet Retief, Postcard Café in Stellenbosch, and catch a performance at Joburg Theatre. Real moments. Real weather.
