Let's Talk About Talking--The Power of Language | Olivia Welsh | TEDxUNC

Language is so common all around us that it’s easy to forget the power at the tips of our tongues. There’s the world that exists before you say the thing. Then, there’s a world that exists after. Olivia Welsh outlines the psychological influence of language. This talk inspires the viewer to think about how intentionality with words can help break down barriers and change challenging patterns. Olivia Welsh is a UNC senior from the suburbs of Philadelphia, double majoring in Psychology and Linguistics with a minor in Social and Economic Justice. She spends a lot of time thinking about how humans interact with social systems and what sorts of social and psychological challenges arise as a result. Academically, Olivia is very interested in law, policy, and education. She is also a huge Carolina sports fan and is currently serving as Co-President of Carolina Fever.
