The church in Antrona (Verbania) was built in the early 1200s on the foundations of an ancient oratory. The Romanesque church was rebuilt in the 17th century, only to be completely destroyed by a terrifying mountain landslide in 1642. The oratory of Saint Roch was completely rebuilt to become a new parish church in the second half of the 17th century. The beautiful baptismal font and two bells from the 16th century were saved from the old church, the smallest of which was remade in 1643 by a Lugano bell foundryman. The bells were remoulded in 1661; one of them was remoulded in 1725 and is now the only original bell, as in 1895 the other two were remoulded into five new bells, which makes six considering the old one. d' - e' - f' sharp - g' - a' - b' The concert is sung in D major. After the brief introduction with the bells playing Christmas carols, the traditional concert is played, which consists of bringing the bells up and then bringing them down one at a time at regular intervals, forming different musical scales. After the destruction of the church, the new parish of Saint Lawrence was built on the site of an old oratory. The masonry parts of the church were completed in 1685 with the laying of the columns of the portico, while the interior was already equipped with some of the most beautiful Baroque sculptures in all of Piedmont. The salient façade leads to the interior of a three-nave room resplendent with the beauty of the gold of the altars, made by a famous local craftsman. The high altar is one of the most beautiful in northern Italy.
