[Season 1, Episode 25] Just like spring months, November historically can be a wet month. As the seasons change and the temperatures drop, November rains, combined with leaves that have recently fallen from the trees, can test the effectiveness of gutter guards. In Episode 25, we look at how effectively the gutter guards are absorbing water during a steady November rain. The water patterns that form on the face of the gutters -- from water that overflows the gutter guards -- will foreshadow what we'll see in later episodes where snow and ice are present on the roof and gutter guards. If it's not obvious by now, not all gutter guards are created equal. There are many interpretations of what is an effective gutter guard. Our testing shows that some implementations work better than others. For instance, gutter guards that slide under the first course of shingles generally work better than gutter guards that sit relatively flat inside the gutter. The location of the gutters and gutter guards on your home may impact how well gutter guards performs. If a gutter is shielded from wind but is in the line of fire from nearby trees, the leaf guards may not be able to shed leaves and pine needles as effectively as gutter located in the open. Add rainwater to the mix, and your gutter guard may or may not be able to handle the responsibility of effectively draining water into the gutters. Episode 25 showcases which gutter guards perform well and which don't with a combination of rainwater and debris and slope.
