Safari trip in Amboseli park in December Southern, Kenya Amboseli is known for large elephant herds and views of Mount Kilimanjaro, across the border in Tanzania. Here, you can expect to see elephants up close in great numbers Amboseli also hosts a large number of wildlife including large and small birds including Flamingos, and White Stork. There is an Observation Hill as well where you can enjoy panoramic views of plains and swamps. We visited early in December where it was raining in some days. We were not lucky to see the cap of Mt. Kilimanjaro as there were more dark and rainy days. Our camp was great though. It's a typical midrange safari lodging in Kenya and very cozy to just stay at the whole day! So in the days that it was raining, we were actually able to enjoy our accommodation with stunning nature view as well. This may not be the best time to go as elephants were hiding too because of the weather but we enjoyed it, nevertheless! Amboseli is a year-round destination. Dry season is from June to October and January to February.
