Inês’s journey with chronic UTIs began with infections triggered by sex, which initially resolved with antibiotics. Over time, they became more frequent, with lingering symptoms between episodes. After receiving limited clinical support, she began working with a nutritional therapist, making lifestyle and dietary changes that brought some relief. However, she also developed vaginal symptoms and was diagnosed with cytolytic vaginosis (CV)—an overgrowth of Lactobacillus with no clear treatment. Despite trying a range of treatments, her pain persisted and deeply impacted her life and mental health. Her turning point came as she began to take a mind-body approach with an app called Curable, and learning about the brain's role in processing pain. After weeks of practical exercises and education, she experienced her first symptom-free days, breaking the cycle of anxiety and chronic discomfort. Inês’s story underlines the strength of the mind-body connection. Her experience highlights how addressing both physical and neuropsychological aspects of chronic pain can bring relief.
