Almost twenty years ago in 2005, Arriva Trains Wales hired in a few Classic Class 37 locomotives & Mk2 coaches on the Rhymney Valley Line in South Wales due to shortage of rolling stock. On a Saturday in November, I took advantage of travelling behind 37405 from my home in Caerphilly to Rhymney & return. A large number of other Railway Enthusiasts had chosen to do exactly the same. Many travelling from across the UK to ride behind these classic locomotives. Yes, there were heads out of the open windows everywhere! I came across this old footage & wanted to share it on Youtube. Rhymney railway station lies in the heart of the little town of the same name just a few miles south of the Brecon Beacons and 23 miles north of Cardiff.
