I decided its about time to upload my videos of Diesel Hauled Locomotives on the Rhymney Valley Line in South Wales in 1998. These locos passed through my home town of Caerphilly & close to my house. Due to work commitments I was only able to film on certain times manly on the early evening trains. They were mainly Class 37's plus a few others! So my apologies for the quality of the video compared to todays standard & those clips filmed without a tripod. The Cardiff Valley Lines were privatised and became the smallest of the UK railway franchises. In 1998 diesel locomotives and coaching stock were hired to cover morning & evening commuter trains at peak times. These loco hauled services ran between Cardiff and Rhymney & return. Most days two loco hauled trains were working. From Rhymney in the morning & from Cardiff in the early evening (plus Rugby specials on some weekends) Somedays only one loco or none ran. It was exciting to wait and film which loco would appear. Sometimes this was a real surprise! Those locomotives that feature in this video are: 37417 'Highland Region' D6593 (33208) 37429 'Eisteddfod Gendlaethol' 37411 'Ty Hafan' 37412 'Driver John Elliot' 37407 'Blackpool Tower' 37403 (D6607) 'Ben Cruachan'
