This video is introduction to the video playlist of Suzuki Book 3: • Suzuki Book 3: Virtual Lessons Which follows after Book 2: • Suzuki Book 2: Virtual Violin Lessons Our main focus area for Book 3 is the development of musicianship and phrasing for the student. Now that we have a good grasp of fundamentals from Books 1 and 2, we'll use those to layer on concepts like dynamics, articulation, and multi-section storytelling. There will still be a few new techniques (trills, double stops, staccatos, taste of third position), but the focus will be on applying our Book 1+2 fundamentals to more complicated pieces with more intentional musical story-telling. So in this sense you can imagine Book 3 as filling out the trilogy of beginning studies (Book 1, Book 2, Book 3). @0:00 Intro @0:33 Book 3 Focus area: Musicianship and phrasing @3:00 Bow work: Fundamental bow work continues @4:23 Bow work: New techniques (stopped staccato, double stops and chords) @5:40 Bow work: Musicianship and phrasing (dynamics, articulation) @8:04 Left hand: Fundamental 1st position work continues (G minor) @10:05 Left hand: New techniques (trills, third position, vibrato) @12:24 Advice: Staying relaxed and good practice patterns @14:40 Looking ahead to Book 4 @16:29 Piece 1: Martini Gavotte @17:34 Piece 2: Bach Minuet @19:29 Piece 3: Bach Gavotte @20:45 Piece 4: Dvorak Humoresque @22:54 Piece 5: Becker Gavotte @23:30 Piece 6: Bach Gavotte from Orchestra Suite @24:22 Piece 7: Bach Bourree from Cello Suite
