On February 26, 1972, 132 million gallons of black waste water rushed through Buffalo Creek Hollow killing 125 people, injuring more than a thousand and leaving thousands more homeless. This collection of stories from WCHS-TV revisits the disaster. The first is a story from our series Traveling West Virginia from 2009. Photojournalist Brad Rice talks to a survivor on the 37th anniversary. The second is from former reporter Jake Glance as he reports on the 35th anniversary from the state capitol. The third story is from June 2014 from former reporter Chris Williams. He reports from a dedication ceremony that renamed a section of Buffalo Creek Road to Kerry Albright Road. Kerry Albright was just 9-months-old when his family was killed at Buffalo Creek. The video ends with a compilation of video from the state archives. _________________________________________ For the latest local and national news, visit our website: https://wchstv.com/ Sign up for our newsletter: https://wchstv.com/sign-up Follow WCHS-TV on social media: Facebook: / eyewitnessnewscharleston Twitter: / wchs8fox11 Instagram: / wchs8fox11
