What happens when you strap a brand new 68mm turbo to a built 6.2 Ford and hand the tuning controls over to two guys who actually know what they're doing? You get data, dyno pulls, and a whole lot of answers. We linked up with Herbie from PKP Motorsports to put his 2006 Ford race truck on the dyno and tune it from scratch using HP Tuners. This thing is built for the Blue Collar Class, a brand new race class designed to replicate real stoplight racing. Two wheel drive, idle launch, no four wheel drive, and strict turbo size limits. Herbie went with a 68mm inducer setup over the nitrous route, and after today's session, it's clear he made the right call. The 68mm Aggressor turbo surprised everyone in the room. No waiting for boost, no lazy spool, this thing comes on hard and fast, which is exactly what you want for street style racing. The challenge? When you're two wheel drive and the turbo lights that quick, traction becomes your biggest enemy. We'll just say the tires had a rough day. On the tuning side, we kept hearing the same myth: 6.0 Power Strokes don't like timing. We proved that wrong. Again. A few timing adjustments alone netted over 37 horsepower on the dyno. We also spent serious time dialing in the vane table on the VGT, balancing low RPM spool against top end power, a game that every diesel tuner knows all too well. By the end of the day we were sitting at 662 horsepower and 1,380 ft lbs of torque at the tire. For a journal bearing 68mm turbo on a 6.2 Power Stroke, that's at the top of what we've seen across the board. After the dyno pulls we hit the street for some real world launch testing, because a strapped down dyno isn't going to tell you how to hook up in a two wheel drive race truck. We found some things that worked, and some things that didn't. We're keeping the details close to the chest until race day. The Blue Collar Class race is in three weeks. This truck has barely 10 miles on it. It should be a good time.
