But it isn’t the green masala led version that you see in Bengaluru. Out here the biryani is yellowish red, its flavours led by Byadgi chillies and a host of whole spices. One place that came highly recommended by locals was Captain’s Donne Biryani where I met biryani master Harish Shetty in a bid to understand this donne biryani’s nuances that also includes a unique process where they pour over the rice the masala that the meat cooks in. The biryani was satisfying no doubt, but so was a perfectly fried and spiced chicken kabab. When in coffee town, Chikmagalur, definitely check it out. Hope you enjoy this episode.
