The episode was “Surfing Selene.” The MTV exposure was the whipped cream on the banana split for The Strap-Ons. The quartet’s fruitful year includes the fresh release of a collection of choice cover songs given the drunken punk treatment, including T-Rex’s “Easy Action”, Kiss’ “C’mon and Love Me” and Willie Nelson’s “Gotta Get Drunk.” VIC DEMISE, ROCK CRITIC, WRITER: On the numerous occasions that I've seen The Pimps, they either sucked or their set was awe inspiring as an exorcism turned snuff film. At some shows they appear to be in a sort of collective daze, barely remembering what songs they were playing, let alone the fact, that they were on stage. It's hard-edged, snotty, pugnacious, disobedient, and incendiary. It's a repulsively rambunctious lil' romp that drives deep and hard into the inner ear like a flamin' hot icepick. If you're aurally inclined towards The Minutemen, Doggy Style, El Diablo, Habitual Sex Offenders, and naughty masturbatory sleaze, then The Strap-Ons will make you orgasmically gush somethin' fierce.
