Hello, Welcome to Vintage Cookbooks and Crafts. My name is Barbara and I have collected cookbooks for over 50 years. In this video I will be making BEST EVER MEAT LOAF from this 1974 Community cookbook, titled: CENTENNIAL COOK BOOK, St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, East Troy Wisconsin, GOOD FOOD RECIPES. “A Book of Favorite Recipes Compiled by DORCAS SOCIETY in the Centennial Year of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Second Edition, 1974.” This really is my favorite meatloaf recipe with its addition of carrots, onions and cheese. Recipe ~ BEST EVER MEAT LOAF (pg. 26, submitted by Irene Schmidt) 2 Eggs 2/3 cup Milk ¼ tsp. Pepper 1 tsp. Salt 3 slices Bread, crumbled 1 Onion, chopped ½ cup shredded Raw Carrots 1 cup shredded Cheddar Cheese 1 ½ lbs. Ground Beef (topping): ¼ cup Brown Sugar ¼ cup Catsup 1 Tbsp. prepared Mustard Break eggs into large mixing bowl; beat slightly with a fork. Add milk, salt, pepper and crumbled bread. Beat until bread has disintegrated. Add onion, carrot, cheese and beef; mix well. Pack into loaf pan (9x5 inches). Combine brown sugar, catsup and mustard; spread over the top. Bake at 350 degrees (F) for 1 hour. Note: I usually double the topping because we like adding more to the meatloaf on our plates as a condiment. ❦ I hope you enjoyed my video and this is delicious recipe.
