VENICE, CA — Wednesday, June 18, 2025 — A large-scale cleanup operation was carried out Wednesday morning at the historic Venice Beach pagoda, focusing on the removal of homeless encampments and the restoration of public safety in one of Los Angeles’ most iconic coastal spaces. The multi-agency effort brought together crews from the Los Angeles Park Rangers, Department of Public Works, LA County Beaches and Harbors, and Clean Harbors Environmental Services. Personnel cleared debris and enforced camping restrictions under Los Angeles Municipal Code Section 63.44(b). One abandoned encampment, including a pop-up tent frame and discarded belongings, was removed in accordance with city protocol. No arrests or citations were issued during the operation. Workers in protective gear carefully sorted and removed both hazardous and non-hazardous materials, reflecting the city’s ongoing push to address public health concerns while approaching homelessness with a combination of enforcement and compassion. Outreach teams from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) were present, offering food, water, clothing, and hygiene kits to individuals impacted by the cleanup. Representatives from Councilwoman Traci Park’s office were also on-site, assisting with coordination and observing the operation. Some nearby vendors voiced concern over the growing presence of city crews and enforcement activity. “If they start messing with the vendors, it’s going to be a problem,” said an art vendor working just steps from the cleanup zone along the Venice Boardwalk. City officials reiterated that the operation is part of a broader effort to reclaim public spaces while connecting unhoused residents to housing options and long-term care. Santa Monica Closeup continues to document the evolving balance between enforcement, outreach, and public policy across L.A.’s Westside. . #VeniceBeach #HomelessEncampment #PublicSafety #ParkRangers #LAMCCleanup — 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘂𝘀𝗲.
