JSTEM Academy: The Future Is Now For Our Students

A new chapter in the history of Judson ISD was recorded as the district's new JSTEM Academy was formally dedicated. The academy is located on the campus of Judson Middle School with a little over 100 6th grade students. The emphasis with the academy currently is in robotics, but that will expand with time as will the grades that are included in the program. The ceremony was hosted by JSTEM Principal Diana Trevino and featured the Judson Middle School Band, the Judson High School JROTC as well the entire academy student body. Superintendent Dr. Willis Mackey briefly touched on how the academy was built, its importance and where it will go in the future. The JISD Board was represented by President Arnoldo Salinas, Vice President Jose Macias, Assistant Secretary Steve Salyer and Board Member Richard LaFoille. Vianey Cano, the creator of the JSTEM logo, was recognized for her winning contribution. Several JSTEM students were selected to spell out the JSTEM mission statement, beliefs and core values to the audience. Also attending was Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Representative Leeroy Cavazos who spoke about the partnership the chamber has with JSTEM. After the ceremonies, those in attendance were invited to tour the school with JSTEM students as their tour guides. Congratulations to everyone...it's a great first step in the district's commitment to STEM studies.
