I programmed the drums in Logic, and performed all other instruments, vocals, mixing, editing, and mastering myself. My aim was to create a faithful retelling of the original, keeping the true soul and depth of this song alive in my version. This song was the first Okinawan song I ever heard - played to me by a friend just days after I first arrived in Japan, and before I ever even started my first ever job here (working at an Okinawan restaurant). It was also the first Okinawan song I ever learned to play, on Sanshin or on any other instrument, and in a single night too! On a borrowed sanshin from the restaurant I used to work at.
