This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. The Power of One, One is really all you need. On a series of truly inspiring talks, Duncan Goose’s search for an African water pump unleashes his passion for creating a whole movement from scratch. A picture of a girl laying by a water pump in a desolated area of Kenya is what really inspired Duncan to start One. This project to solve clean water issues started by wanting "to change one person's life, to stop one child from walking four or five hours, to stop one child dying from drinking contaminated water". This passionate speech closes with staggering figures of how collectively we can all contribute to end water scarcity not only in Kenya but in the entire world. uncan started his career marketing consumer brands but, after reading a book called Jupiter’s Travels, he quit his job, sold his house, bought a motorbike and set off to ride it around the world. Two years and a multitude of life-changing events later, he returned a changed man and started up Global Ethics – a business that donates 100% of its profits to funding water projects in Africa. Having given more than £10 million and changed 2.6 million lives to date, Duncan has been recognised and awarded for his work, picking up an honorary Doctorate along the way. Of those millions of lives, there is one in particular he’s especially proud of and looks forward to elaborating at TEDx.
