In our "Satya ki Khoj" we cover the journey to Leh Palace and Thiksey Monastery which is part two of a three episode series covering Leh city. This video explain the historical significance of Leh Palace that overlooks the whole city built by King Sengge Namgyal of the Namgyal dynasty as their residence. Not so far away is Thiksey Monastery, home to a 15-meter (49 ft) high statue of the Maitreya Buddha, and houses roughly 80–120 monks, a nunnery, 10 temples, and numerous sacred artifacts. [Date of the journey: 22nd January 2026] Distance: Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport to Leh Palace: 4.8 kms (15 mins via scooter) Leh Palace to Thiksey Monestry: 19 kms (40-45 mins via scooter) Road conditions: Roads are well-built. Centrally located, the journey to the palace is of ease and excitement. As the road ascends, the whole city becomes a painting. A sight for sore eyes! The 20 kms stretch from leh Ladakh to Thiksey Monastery is travelled upon NH 3. The highway is strikingly smooth and scenic. The mountains only get bigger and mind clearer. Warm regards, Satya ki Khoj team
