In our "Satya ki Khoj" we journey to Shanti Stupa (Leh) and Shakyamuni Statue (Leh) which is part one of a three episode series covering Leh city. This video explain the history and cultural importance of Shanti stupa perched on top of a mountain and visible from there the Shakyamuni Statue that is an epitome of Buddhist tradition and architecture. Date of the journey: 21st January 2026 Distance: Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport to Nakpo Homestay: 3.6 kms (10 mins via taxi) Nakpo Homestay to Shanti Stupa: 4 kms (10-15 mins via scooter) Shanti Stupa to Shakyamuni Statue: 3-4 kms (10 mins via scooter) Road conditions: Since both Shanti Stupa and Shakyamuni Statue are located within the city, the roads are perfectly built. The route, no matter where you take it from, is scenic and refreshing. The route overlooks the entire city and Shanti stupa in particular is visible from most houses there as it did from our homestay.
