The Williamson Tunnels - a walk through the Wine Bins area of the cellars under Williamson's house

Joseph Williamson lived at 44 Mason Street in Edge Hill, Liverpool in one of many houses he had built in the area in the first half of the 19th century. The site is now in the care of The Friends of Williamson's Tunnels who have painstakingly excavated the extensive cellars below where the house once stood, and many deeper tunnels and chambers below the cellars. A series of short videos will show all of these areas. This video will take you on a walkthrough tour of one section that we call The Wine Bins. This room, which was never lost, was partly filled with rubble and accessible through a steel hatch in the ground, but other rooms, which were completely filled up and lost have been excavated out and are now part of the tunnels tour. It was written that Joseph Williamson spent most of his time underground with his workmen and that he slept in his cellars.
