Here is our version of the traditional Christmas chant, "Puer Natus!" We hope you enjoy it:) English translation available in the closed captions. Description: “Puer Natus” is our arrangement of two pieces: an ancient hymn called “Puer Natus in Bethlehem,” which we sing in its entirety, (14 verses) and the Introit of the Christmas Day Mass “Puer Natus Est Nobis.” This latter’s text is taken from the book of Isaias 9:6. We are releasing it today because the 17th of December marks the beginning of the octave before Christmas, a special time to seriously reflect on the coming of the Christ Child and to prepare our hearts for Him. Dec 17-24 are marked by the Magnificat O Antiphons, which spell backwards the message “ERO CRAS,” that is, “I will be tomorrow.” Or “I am coming tomorrow.” This message would be in the voice of the Christ Child, as the last O antiphon occurs on Christmas Eve. These 7 titles address Christ in various ways in reference to Scriptural passages. Dec 17 - O Saptientia Dec 18 – O Adonai Dec 19 – O Radix Jesse Dec 20 – O Clavis David Dec 21 – O Oriens Dec 22 – O Rex Gentium Dec 23 – O Emmanuel Please no bad language in the comments. We want this to be family friendly:) Lyrics: Puer natus in Bethlehem, Alleluia. Unde gaudet Jerusalem. Alleluia. Alleluia, Alleluia Refrain: With an exultant heart, let us adore the new-born Christ, with a new song. The Son of God the Father, Alleluia In the highest has taken flesh, Alleluia, Alleluia By angel Gabriel announced, Alleluia The virgin has conceived the Son. Alleluia, Alleluia Like a bridegroom from the chamber, Alleluia He proceeds from the womb of the mother. Alleluia, Alleluia Lo He who reigns above the skies, Alleluia There in a manger lowly, lies. Alleluia, Alleluia And the angel to the shepherds, Alleluia Reveals that He is the Lord, Alleluia, Alleluia And kingly pilgrims, long foretold, Alleluia From East bring incense, myrrh and gold, Alleluia, Alleluia And enter with their offerings, Alleluia To hail the newborn King of Kings. Alleluia, Alleluia Born of a Virgin Mother bright, Alleluia Who is light from light; Alleluia, Alleluia And from the serpent's poison free, Alleluia He owned our blood and pedigree, Alleluia, Alleluia Our feeble flesh and His the same, Alleluia Our sinless kinsman He became, Alleluia, Alleluia That we, from deadly thrall set free, Alleluia Like Him, and so like God, should be. Alleluia, Alleluia A Child is born to us, and a Son is given to us: Whose government is upon His shoulder: And His Name shall be called, The Angel of Great Council Come then, and on His natal day, Alleluia Rejoice before the Lord and pray. Alleluia, Alleluia And to the holy One in Three. Alleluia Give praise and thanks eternally. Alleluia, Alleluia Sing ye to the Lord a new canticle: Because He hath done wonderful things. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be World without end, Amen. A Child is born in Bethlehem, Alleluia Exult for joy, Jerusalem! Alleluia, Alleluia
