Rainbow Trout : Match the Hatch : Fierce Takes : Midmar Stillwater Fishery : Aberdeenshire

I visited Midmar fishery in Aberdeenshire and had some great sport catching some feisty Rainbow Trout. They certainly fight hard and put a bend in the mid-weight rod. They were pre-occupied with a recent hatch of small black flies which they were sucking off the surface. I managed to hook two but missed a few more takes. I need to quicken my response time! It's always nice to see these fish returned to strongly swim off again. Midmar Fishery has an excellent anglers hut complete with wood burner, kitchen and tables should the weather turn a bit Scottish. Just a nice place to chill and read the catch returns and flies used.
