Instead of firing from the center, the cores now have turrets which fire their own type of ammo, including the new micro-missile. Turrets have health and can take damage separately from the core. If a turret is destroyed, it will respawn after some time. Since the turrets surround the core and are collidable, they also act as a buffer between enemy projectiles and the core health, so a conveniently positioned turret could save a core from certain death!
