Glenorchy Community Compost provides the community the opportunity to compost its organise waste in town. It is a commercial-scale composting system, using the Earth Flow system. This system is designed and manufactured by Green Mountain Technologies. It is a recycled and converted shipping container, which is a fully automated in-vessel hot composting system. It is a system which provides optimum conditions for composting in 14-21 days. It produces a high quality compost, that is lightweight, fluffy, extremely friable and highly oxygenated. This project is a 12-month pilot in a partnership between Queenstown Lake District Council, Zero Waste Glenorchy, Hewland Projects and The Headwaters.
