History of the Hexatone H6: H6 was the world's first six chime air horn. Developed by Robert Swanson (founder of Airchime) in 1949, only 4 H6's were made. The "H" stood for "hexatone," from Robert Swanson's original multi-chime air horn, the six-chime H6. The bells of the H6 were welded together into a single unit, and could not be reversed as on the M5. The M5's bells and power chambers were bolted to a manifold, but in the H5 and H6 pressurized air was supplied to the bells through individual tubes emanating from the base on the H5 horns and from a manifold mounted on the 1 bell for the H6 horns.
