Bash the Trash’s Green Groove combines the best parts of all our shows into one big program - performance, instrument-building and a parade! We start with a fast and funny performance that demonstrates the basics of sound, instruments, and instrument building; as well as environmental messages of sustainability, plastic pollution and climate change. Participants then go hands-on to build a variety of age-appropriate instruments from reused materials, and then take it on the road in a noisy, joyous parade! Contact us at bashthetrash@mac.com or www.bashthetrash.com Bash the Trash builds and performs on musical instruments made from trash, making connections to science, plastic pollution and climate change along the way. We offer live and virtual performances in schools, festivals, museums and other venues, as well as hands-on and virtual workshops, residencies, and professional development sessions. Bash the Trash consists of 35+ performers and educators nationwide and abroad. BTT was formed 30+ years ago by husband-and-wife co-directors John Bertles & Carina Piaggio. BTT was nominated for a Drama Desk Award and a Grammy Award for the creation of a set of unique instruments made from beach trash for the Tony-award winning Broadway show "Once on This Island."
