A Train For Christmas: Indiana Railroad's Santa Train

On December 7th & 8th, 2024, the Indiana Railroad operated their annual Santa Train. This year's train featured an unusual three locomotive consist, due to the INRD 7008 having issues and not being able to be the train's sole power as originally planned. As a result, the 7008 trailed behind a pair of INRD SD40-2s, INRD 4002 and 4005. In this video, you'll see the Santa Train rolling westbound through Indiana and Saturday the 7th and eastbound through Illinois and back into Indiana on Sunday the 8th. The train made stops through Indiana in Solsberry, Bloomfield, Linton, and Dugger, before heading north to Jasonville. The next day, the train made stops through Illinois in Newton, Oblong, and Palestine, before heading back into Indiana and heading to Sullivan. As the train approached each stop, Santa himself would come out of the lead locomotive to greet the families gathered in the small towns along the route.
