It's the 3rd Match of the Austral Asia Cup 1989/90 between Pakistan and India. India won the toss and chose to bowl first. Saeed Anwar and Saleem Yousuf opened the innings for the Green Caps. Both batters started impressively not leaving any opportunity of grabbing a boundary. They smashed boundaries all around before Shastri dismissed Saeed Anwar thanks to an amazing diving catch by Kapil Dev. Saleem Malik couldn't get the scoreboard going and became victim of Shastri. Miandad got some runs with Saleem Yousuf and Imran Khan to keep the scoreboard going with Ijaz Ahmed getting some quick runs at the end to help Pakistan manage 235 for the loss of 9 wickets in their 50 overs. India started the run chase slowly with not allowing any opportunity to the bowlers to get wicket. Both the batters looked firm but Prabhakar run out followed by Sidhu's wicket which made it difficult for India. Azharuddin got the scoreboard going with wickets falling on the other end. No one got the chase in the same situation with India getting all out in 209.
